Inspector-General of Police Confers With Former IGPs

In a significant move to strengthened Ghana’s internal security, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on Wednesday met with former Inspectors-General of Police at the National Police Headquarters in Accra to seek their counsel and share experiences to enhance the administrative and operational effectiveness of the Police Service.
The meeting, which was also aimed at strengthening collaboration between the current leadership of the Ghana Police Service and its past leadership was attended by the following former IGPs: Mr. C.K Dewornu, Mr. Ernest Owusu Poku, Nana Owusu-Nsiah, Mr. Patrick Acheampong, Mrs. Elizabeth Mills-Robertson, Dr. John Kudalor, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu and Mr. James Oppong Boanuh.

The Ghmailonline.com’s Abdul Karim Bintu says immediate past Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare was not present during the high-profile meeting.
Sources close to the police said, key issues discussed at the meeting included but not limited to the following; personnel welfare, crime fighting efforts across the country, stakeholder engagements, ongoing reforms in the Police Service and other general issues affecting the Ghana Police Service as well as the security, law and order in the country.
The meeting ended with a commitment to hold regular engagements for the growth and development of the Ghana Police Service. Also present at the meeting were the members of the Police Management Board (POMAB).
